# About ABCD

ABCD is an informal, University-wide association promoting communication and collaboration on technology-related topics across organizational boundaries. Formed in November, 1985, with just seven people, the group has grown into an organization of over 1000 members. This organization has opened pathways of communication between many segments of the university community that had never before been breached. The group's primary objective is to promote communication over a broad range of computer related topics and issues.

ABCD primarily uses mailing lists for communication among its members, but it also has a long history of holding live in-person meetings on topics of interest. The organization is entirely volunteer-led, and is always looking for folks interested in advancing the goals of better communication and education.

All Harvard affiliates are eligible and welcome to join ABCD. Visit the [Mailing Lists Page](/abcd-mailing-lists) to signup or update your subscriptions.
