# Get Involved

ABCD has been much less active since the pandemic. We expect this is due to:

- Persistent remote work, limiting participation in lunch meetings
- Layoffs leading to increased workload and less time for volunteer activity
- Hiring freezes resulting in fewer new employees

However this state of things is not inevitable or necessarily permanent. The key to an active organization is *your participation*! Here are some possible ways you can make an impact:

## Suggest/Organize an ABCD Meeting

Meetings of the Main ABCD Group have always been a great way to meet people, make connections and figure out how the university works. Is there a topic you would like to hear more about? Is there a topic you know about and would like to share? Why not make a suggestion to the [Steering Committee](mailto:abcd-steering@abcd.harvard.edu)? They can work with you to make your idea a reality.

## Volunteer to Chair or Start a Group

ABCD Sub Groups are a great way to keep up on developments in a particular area of interest. Of course those areas tend to change over time, so it stands to reason that these groups might come and go. A new group could start as a new mailing list and then advance to regular meetings with the right leadership. Share your idea with the [Steering Committee](mailto:abcd-steering@abcd.harvard.edu), and find out how!

## Join the ABCD Steering Committee

The Steering Committee is always on the lookout for new folks interested in supporting and growing the community. Let them know [you're interested](mailto:abcd-steering@abcd.harvard.edu).
